Winter Moon - Print by Chelsey Hawkey

Inspired by January’s full ‘wolf’ moon. Small white dot on a pale blue sky, felt like a gift, as most things in nature do when one pauses long enough to notice. Centuries of art and storytelling are the direct result of humankind looking up and romanticizing that celestial body. I like the Greek version of it being Goddess Selene riding on her white chariot to her beautiful shepherd Endymion in his eternal sleep.

'Winter Moon' was made from an original drawing that was transferred to a linoleum block, carved, then inked and printed with hand tools. Small variations and irregularities resulting from this method creates a truly unique print every time.
